About me: Dr. Anwar Mohamed received his Bachelor of Pharmacy from Ajman University for Science and Technology (Ajman, UAE) in 2005. In 2008 he earned his MSc degree from the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacology and Toxicology), Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). Following that, Dr. Mohamed pursued his PhD and was awarded an Izaak Walton Killam Scholarship (a prestigious scholarship at the University of Alberta) for his thesis work “Modulation of Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR)-Regulated Xenobiotic Metabolizing Enzymes by Arsenic” and was conferred his PhD in 2013 from the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacology and Toxicology), Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada).

 

Thereafter, Dr. Mohamed did two post-doctoral trainings. His first post-doctoral training was in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) from 2013 to 2015 and his second post-doctoral training was in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Louisville (Louisville, Kentucky, USA) from 2015 to 2016. During his post-doctoral training Dr. Mohamed received two prestigious fellowships from Alberta Innovates Health Solutions (AIHS) and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR).

 

Dr. Mohamed’s research focuses on Liver Pharmacology, Xenobiotic Metabolism, Inflammation and Obesity. To date, his research has resulted in over 40 peer-reviewed publications and a similar number of conference abstracts in addition to several invited talks.
